Exhaust fitment

New exhaust from Gardner. We can install the first pipes on each side and all the brackets, but until the chassis is loaded - we'll have to hold off on the rest.

Dressin' the engine...

Spark plug heat shields installed.

Looks good. Note: we need to drill the hole for that brake block.

Oil filter cannister needed some touch-up paint...

Oil fill cap needed some touch up...

Original air cleaner.  It isn't perfect, but wow - it's pretty darn nice. Did some rubbing compound & polish.

Installed the freshly rebuilt & original Carter carb.

Time to install the glass bowl fuel filter. Permatex Aviation sealant is our favorite 'go-to' for fuel lines.

Nice.

Carb. -> Fuel pump fuel line installed.

Road-draft tube bracket installed.

Time to drill the chassis to mount the brake block. Fresh bits.

Clean.

Engine install

New/correct style flywheel installed

You can see the correct staggered (shorter diameter) bolt holes on the flywheel which accommodate a correct 10 1/2" clutch.

Clutch lines up w/the flywheel bolt holes this time

Old clutch assembly - not correct for a '57

Torque'd to spec.

57 Corvette's had a leather clutch boot

Original clutch fork/new throwout bearing

I'm 99% sure those bellhousing bolts should be painted. Gotta double check, but we'll touch those up later.

Fitting the re-pop transmission bracket mount bolts. And guess what? They're too long!  Ugh. Stay tuned.

The 3-speed original transmission slid right in!

Back to those trans. mount bolts. We bag/tag/save everything!
We're going to clean up the originals and go with those.

Wire brush clean-up. 1 down, 1 to go.

More accessories going on the motor
