Front Suspension & Steering Disassembly

We started off with removing the front stabilizer link

Another snapped bolt

Removing the front stabilizer bar U-brackets

Ouch - another broken bolt.  That one's gonna be a pain to remove!

And then the Stabilizer link snapped in half   : )

Onto the spindles, wheel cylinders & backing plates...

The cotter pins were pretty corroded

We won't be reusing the wheel cylinders.  ; )

The inside of the wheel cylinder

Moved onto the tie rod removal

Upper engine mount cushion

Passenger shock removed

Time to compress the spring (pass. side)

Unbolting the lower A-Arm (more broken bolts)

It's down, spring is out, and we still have all our digits!

Disassembling the Upper A-Arm

Passenger front complete - looked like a yard sale!

Top of the spring has the flat edge

Bottom of the coil is round and fits nicely in the Lower A-Arm

Removing the Pivot Shaft from the A-Arm

Removing the engine mount brackets from the chassis

The 2nd engine mount support bracket removed.

Removing the driver-side spring and lowering the A-Arm

Removing the Pivot Shaft

Documenting the brake blocks and brake line routing

All front steering & front suspension is off!

Clutch bellcrank assembly removed

Transmission support removed

Noted 3 shims on each side of the transmission support (6 total)

Time to remove the 3rd Arm Bearing bracket...

Pitman Arm & Draglink

More broken bolts, but it's out!

There are 16 bolts that hold the front crossmember to the frame.  After a lot of LiquidWrench, some fire, and a dab of muscle...we got 13 removed.

Here's a few of the 13.  3 more to go!
To be continued...
